Varsity firsts: Vote for the High School Boys Hockey Player of the Week
Weymouth High's Jack Browning has been voted the High School Boys Hockey Player of the Week.
The senior collected over 20,000 votes to earn the honor. Browning scored the overtime winner as the Wildcats defeat Walpole in the season opener.
And this week's candidates are...
Nicholas Harris, Soph., Abington: Harris recorded a shutout in a 4-0 win over Rockland.
James Joyce, Sr., Middleboro: Joyce scored two goals and added an assist in a 3-2 win over Taunton.
Brayden Bates, Soph, East Bridgewater/West Bridgewater: Bates made 40 saves in a 2-0 shutout win over Upper Cape Tech.

Chris Stone, Sr., Silver Lake: Stone recorded his first varsity shutout in a 4-0 win over Rockland.
Garrett Sager, Soph., Stoughton/Brockton: Sager scored four goals in a 6-3 win over Holliston.
Ben Sylvester, Sr., Archbishop Williams: Sylvester scored a pair of goals in a 5-1 win over Braintree.
Cooper Larouco, Soph., Rockland: Larouco scored a hat trick in a 5-1 win over Mashpee/Monomoy.

Nick Sturdevant, Sr., Southeastern/Bristol-Plymouth: Sturdevant scored the winning goal 47 seconds into overtime to lift his team to a 5-4 win over South Shore Tech.
Nolan Petrucelli + Joe Perniola, Norwell: Both Clippers had two goals and an assist in a 6-2 win over Cohasset/Hull.
Landon Grothe + Matt Lawson + Shaun Teehan, Oliver Ames: All three Tigers had two-goal games in a 9-2 win over Wakefield.
Jake Adams + Wyatt Iantosca, Srs., + Jack Resnick, Soph., Hopkinton: Adams and Resnick each recorded hat tricks in a 7-4 win over Westwood. Iantosca was named to the All-Tournament team for the Daily News Cup after helping lead the Hillers to the final.
Roman Belli, Sr., Marlborough: This goaltender pitched his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Hopkinton in the final of the Daily News Cup to claim Wes Tuttle MVP honors of the tournament.
Robert Geltman, Sr., Framingham: Geltman made 57 saves for the Flyers in a 3-2 overtime loss to Franklin in the consolation game of the Pat Serio Cup at Loring Arena.
Chauncey Guenard, Sr., Marlborough: This defenseman scored a nifty breakaway goal in a semifinal win over Hudson in the Daily News Cup before potting the game-winner in the final against Hopkinton (3-0 win over the Hillers) to help the Panthers claim their eighth Daily News Cup title.
Hunter Hourihan, Jr., Dover-Sherborn/Weston: The D-S junior had two goals and an assist in a 5-3 win over Norton before Christmas and then was one of five goal-scorers in a 5-2 win at Watertown on Dec. 30.
Sam Hubbard, Jr., + Jeff Tavares, Sr., Natick: Hubbard scored two goals, one of them shorthanded, in a tough 4-3 loss to Andover. In a 3-0 win over East Greenwich (R.I.) earlier in the week in the Malden Catholic Serino Tournament consolation game, Hubbard also had two goals while Tavares made 23 saves to earn the shutout.
Paddy Maxwell + Aidan Reilly + Brody Sharpe, Jrs., Wellesley: The defenseman Maxwell scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as the Raiders defeated host Falmouth, 5-4, to win the Ray Kenney Christmas Classic title at Falmouth Ice Arena. The forward Reilly scored two goals in the 5-3 win over Plymouth South in the tourney semifinals. In a 6-5 win over rival Needham just before Christmas, Sharpe notched the hat trick with an assist.
Terrell Messam, Soph., Westborough: This goaltender mustered 20 saves to post his first shutout of the season with a 4-0 win over Longmeadow prior to making 23 saves in the Rangers’ 7-2 victory over Minnechaug.
