Willard's half-court heave: Vote for the High School Boys Basketball Player of the Week
Abington High's Tyler Staiti has been voted the High School Boys Basketball Player of the Week.
The sophomore received over 25,000 vote to earn the honor. Staiti starred with 34 points in a win over Hull.
And this week's candidates are...
Edric Louissaint + Will Savage, Weymouth: Both Wildcats finished with 21 points in a 73-65 win over North Quincy.
Jalik Fernandes, Holbrook: Fernandes scored 27 points in an 82-64 win over Quincy.
Matt Delcore, Sr., Pembroke: Delcore scored 31 points in a loss to Reading. He led the way for the Titans with 23 points in a win over Silver Lake.
Dylan Kaplinger, Sr., East Bridgewater: Kaplinger had 22 points to go with 8 rebounds in a 59-50 win over Silver Lake.
Theo Moore, Sr., Braintree: Moore was named MVP of the Adams Tournament, which the Wamps won. He scored 19 points in the final, a 63-50 win over Weymouth.
Nick Adams, Jr., Norwell: Adams scored 22 points in a 58-47 win over Holbrook.
Jake Willard, Sr., Oliver Ames: Willard drained a shot from half court at the buzzer to lift the Tigers to a 54-53 win over Cardinal Spellman.
Ryan Dooley, Sr., Lincoln-Sudbury: The forward scored 19 points and was named tourney MVP as the Warriors (5-1) defeated Tech Boston, 70-47, to take the Framingham Holiday Tournament. In the 66-51 win over King Philip in the first round, Dooley scored 26 points and grabbed 11 boards as the Warriors fought back from an early 19-4 deficit to win.
Jack Carter, Fr., + Adam Hart, Sr., Millis: Carter had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Hart added 15 points as the Mohawks defeated Prospect Hill Academy, 53-40. Carter also scored 22 points in a 53-38 loss to Bellingham on Dec. 20.
Patrick Madden, Jr., Hopedale: The guard drained five shots from beyond the arc while scoring 24 points to hit the 20-plus mark for the fifth time in as many games as the Blue Raiders rallied to defeat Wayland.
Brendan McNamara, Medway: The senior scored 15 points and made the All-Milford Tournament Team after a 66-58 loss to host Milford in the consolation game.
James McKinney, Jr., Nipmuc: The center scored five of his 19 points in overtime against Northbridge and 20 of his 21 points in the second half to go with 15 rebounds versus Oxford as the Warriors collected a pair of close victories.
Mason Melchionda + Jono Windle, Srs., Dover-Sherborn: Melchionda (19 points) and Windle (18) led the way in a tough loss for the Raiders (4-2) to Martha’s Vineyard. Melchionda also led all scorers with 23 points in a 79-68 win over Medfield, while Windle added 20.
Ross Priscella, Sr., Bellingham: Priscella led the way with 21 points as the host Blackhawks defeated Wayland in the opening round of their Barry Hutchinson Memorial Tournament, 53-39. Bellingham fell to Bourne in the final, 68-50. Priscella also scored 14 points in a 53-38 win over Millis on Dec. 20.
