Taunton's ice rink at Camp Riverside is open for the season: What's different this year?
What’s a better way to get into the holiday spirit than by spending an afternoon on the ice?
On Dec. 4, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South opened its synthetic ice-skating rink at Camp Riverside in Taunton, the home of their summer camp programming.
While the campground is mostly used during the summer months for zip-lining, ropes courses, kayaking, and more, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South have expanded their out-of-school programming to the winter months as well.
The rink opened to the public in December of 2021 with a sponsorship from FedEx, and has been offering hot chocolate, skating lessons, special events, and winter-friendly fun ever since.

When will the skating rink open for the season?
According to Lauren Utschig, executive director for Camp Riverside, the rink, which officially opened on Dec. 4, is available for group reservations. Make a reservation online or by calling 508-824-3311.
The rink will close for the season March 1, 2024.
Drop-ins
This year, the skating rink will be open for drop-ins only during the winter vacation breaks of Feb. 19 to 23.
Group rentals
The rink is available for two-hour group rentals for up to 20 people. According to Utschig, the rink can be rented out for parties, organizational events, or even just a family fun day.
How much will it cost?
For the drop-in school vacation times, its $7 per skater, which includes hot chocolate and skate rentals. For group rentals, it’s $275 for two hours and up to 20 people, also including hot chocolate and skate rentals.

The skating rink is located at Camp Riverside in Taunton, located at 388 Harvey St.
What other kid's programs are available in the winter?
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South offers programing during school vacation weeks in December and February in Brockton and Taunton from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
