Woman injured in daytime Brockton shooting, male suspect in custody

BROCKTON − A woman was injured in a daytime shooting at a Brockton apartment complex on Friday afternoon. Police say the suspect is in custody.

Officers responded to Davis Commons, an apartment complex at 165 Carl Ave. in Brockton, about 3:17 p.m. for a reported shooting.

First responders found a 39-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound, police spokesman Darren Duarte said. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Police say the suspected shooter was arrested shortly after.

"A detective located the suspect at another location and police placed him in custody," Duarte said.

No further information was immediately available, including whether the victim and suspect are known to each other and where the victim was shot. The suspect's identity wasn't immediately released and it's not yet clear what charges he faces.

"The investigation is ongoing," Duarte said.
