Hat tricks galore: Vote for the High School Girls Hockey Player of the Week
Natick High's Sophia Luoni has been voted the High School Girls Hockey Player of the Week.
The freshman received over 42,000 votes to earn the honor. Luoni posted her third shutout of the season by making 21 saves in a 2-0 win over Bishop Stang. She also recorded a win in net with a 2-1 victory over Medway/Ashland.
And this week's candidates are...
Jen Birolini, Jr., Pembroke: Birolini scored a hat trick in a 10-2 win over Quincy/North Quincy.
Caroline Doherty, Jr., Hingham: Doherty scored a late goal to salvage a 1-1 tie with Malden Catholic.
Julie Murphy + Grace McLeish, Archbishop Williams: Murphy tallied two goals while McLeish recorded a shutout ina. 4-0 win over Weymouth.
Calli Pineau, Sr., Norwell/Scituate/Abington: In a 4-0 win over Hanover, Pineau scored three goals and assisted on the other.
Molly Murphy + Lila Chamoun, Milton Murphy scored two goals and Chamoun recorded a shutout in a 3-0 win over Weymouth.
Sophia Luoni, Fr., Natick: The goalie Luoni turned away 29 shots for the Redhawks in a 5-1 win over Watertown on Saturday.
