BRIDGEWATER — A five-year-old passenger was among four people injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Bridgewater Tuesday morning, Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and Acting Fire Chief John Schlatz said in a written statement.

Bridgewater police and firefighters received reports of a crash involving a Toyota SUV, a Ford pickup truck and a Chevy pickup truck at the intersection of Bedford Street (Route 18) and Winter Street about 11:35 a.m. Tuesday morning, officials said.

A Massachusetts state trooper was on scene providing medical aid when first responders arrived.

The operator and sole occupant of the Ford, a 23-year-old man from Middleboro, was ejected from the vehicle and flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Rhode Island.

Multi-vehicle accident injures four at the intersection of Bedford St. (Route 18) and Winter St. in Bridgewater.

The operator and sole occupant of the Chevy, a 44-year-old Bridgewater man, and the occupants of the Toyota, a 38-year-old Bridgewater woman and a 5-year-old passenger, were all transported by ambulance to a local hospital, officials said.

It is unclear how severe the injuries of the four people involved are.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation indicates that the Ford pickup truck was traveling north on Route 18 when it collided with both the Toyota and Chevy at the intersection.

Police have not said if there are charges being considered in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Bridgewater Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, the Raynham Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department's Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
