We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kathleen A. O’ Brien, 71, on January 5, 2024 of Leland, NC following a brief illness. Kathy was the daughter of the late Robert and Marie O’ Brien. Kathy was born in Brockton, MA a graduate of Brockton High School class of 1970. She received her masters in Education at Bridgewater State University.
Kathy spent her later years in Fort Myers Florida where she enjoyed long walks in the beautiful sunny weather and enjoyed time at the beach. More recently, she moved to North Carolina to be near family.
Kathy is survived by her sister Maryrose Gammons and her husband Steve of West Bridgewater, MA, her sister Jane Kaminski of Leland, NC, her brother Robert O’Brien and his wife Velma Lee of Potomac, MD, several beloved nieces and nephews Dennis Kaminski and Kelly Fordham of Plaistow, NH, Michael Kaminski of Claremont, NH, Theresa and James Migliaccio of Wilmington, NC, Emily and Justin Poliachik of Wilmington, NC, Nell Gammons of West Bridgewater, Sammi and Matthew Howard of NYC, Dr. Sydney Liang of NYC, Spencer Liang of Washington, DC, her grandniece Riley Kaminski and grandnephew Wes Poliachik.
Kathy’s greatest passion was her 33 year teaching career at Brockton High School. She touched so many lives and is remembered fondly by her students and fellow teachers for her dedication to learning and for being voted best dressed. She couldn’t travel anywhere without encountering previous students who called “Miss O’Brien!” and made her day with a friendly hello. This would truly bring her so much joy.
She will be missed dearly by her family who she was so devoted to. She will forever be held in their hearts.
